&lt;p&gt;When defining a media-type, you can use relations to tell clients &quot;what to do&quot; with the link and then document the &lt;em&gt;way&lt;/em&gt; that should be done. Or you can tell clients &quot;what data is available&quot; and then document what actions (methods) can be executed on that data.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Currently, I like the first option because it offer the ability to use domain-specific verbs that might be familiar to the client.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;But I&#039;m not at all convinced that this is the proper path.&lt;/p&gt;
